As I flicked through the TV the other evening, the Gok Wan show ‘How to look good naked’ caught my eye. I don’t watch TV often but really admire the work he does.
A lovely lady who was wheelchair bound was the focus of the show, when asked what she thinks her best features or qualities are, she couldn’t find an answer. There wasn’t one thing she liked about herself and eventually replied with ‘nothing at all’.
I really couldn’t believe my eyes or ears, here was a lady with so much to offer, attractive, independent, raising her son on her own and adored by a large group of friends. Yet she couldn’t see anything positive about herself.
I started to wonder how many people out there had similar beliefs and thoughts. It made such an impression on me that I decided to put pen to paper (or thoughts to blog!)
So lets start by admiring who we are. What would you say are your best qualities? What makes you unique and admired by others? What’s your best feature when you look in the mirror? A long list should be appearing before you. If not some work needs to be done!
It’s important to remind yourself of how special you are and acknowledge your own uniqueness.
In saying that, there are days when we have the ‘negative self talk’ or beat ourselves up for something we’ve done or said. The more we get in the mindset of being positive about ourselves, the less we start to notice the negative stuff.
After all if we feel great about who we are, then no doubt others will pick up the vibes and feel it too! So be extra nice to yourself this week and pay yourself as many compliments as you can.
Then, you will notice how good you look naked.
